Spacing, the hard way
The ideal distance between lettershapes is not best decided with pieces of volcanic rock.
N umbers that aren’t there can usually be worked out by looking at what is known and clearly present. Countershapes, the space inside numerals and between them, are almost as important as the lettershapes themselves. This piece is a play on irregular countershapes.
These numerals are made from simple, repeated shapes. They are a part of a teaching alphabet, created to demonstrate easy assembly of display characters.
