Crowing of roosters will herald the destruction of the gods and the conflagration that follows.
The end of the world
T he creation of the world and its approaching doom is described in the epic poem Völuspá (the sybil's prophecy). About 60 stanzas survive in two manuscripts from the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries.
It is a major source of information about the Teutonic gods, and much disputed by people whose convictions are fortified by absence of facts.
This piece is a preliminary study for a broader treatment.
