A tradition of small, upright capitals with italic lower case goes back to the fifteenth century. Alas it is not as popular as it once was.

T he artwork I delivered was a flimsy assembly of paper and tape. Typewriter correction fluid created mounds that overlapped layers of indian ink. (Acrylics take too long to dry. So does gouache.)
As he retouched the film negative, the printer painted out dots over the letter i in two places. This was a mistake. He thought they were ink blots. Later they were added to each copy by hand, in red, which made the piece more interesting.
