You should also note, dear reader, that some small letters of the alphabet may be joined to the letter that follows and others must not. Those that can be joined to a succeeding letter are: a c d f i k l m n [long] s s t u. Of these, any letter can be joined from a d i k l m n u, but only some from c f [long] s t. From the remaining letters of the alphabet, b e g h o p q r x y z, no letter that follows may be joined. But whether to join or not I leave to your judgment, as long as the writing is even.
