Six exercises for a firm hand

P roper penmanship comes in two parts. One is a firm hand. The other part is a clear idea of the way the letters are made. We’ll get to that later. This part is about your hand.

What do you do? You trace patterns. (Or you can write around them if you prefer. Either way works.) For best results, draw a slow and careful line. Follow the pattern closely.

The first sheets are easy. Short strokes are easier than long. If an exercise gives you trouble, do it again.
