Before lifting
The right parenthesis and the letter e fit well together. The left parenthesis is too low for the letter E.
The hyphen between the letters A and Z is far too low.

After lifting
The left parenthesis and the letter E look all right. The hyphen between the letters A and Z is at a comfortable height.

Parentheses are usually designed to fit the lower case letters. Next to capitals they tend to be too low: Let's try moving the left parenthesis by shifting the baseline a touch.
Many other bits of punctuation also look too low with caps. The hyphen is one: a-z would look all right, but A-Z doesn't.
