I made one version of BriemGauntlet for interlace decoration. Wisely, no type manufacturer has licensed it.
This example shows the letters abc, cut in half.
Interlace imitatates woven stems. You start with two character sets. The first has the upper halves of the letters. The second has the lower.
You fill in the gap between the two with additional characters, such as these.
Here are the split characters abc, with other characters creating a basic interlace. The rule is simple: every strand either goes under or over other strands. Anybody who can count to two can do it.
Heres a modest interlace sample. But the sky is your limit.
